Crooked Kingdom (Leigh Bardugo) (ALSO SPOILER ALERT)

SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER! Please do not read this review unless you've already finished Six Of Crows, as this is the sequel.

You could say things have gone less than swimmingly. Cheated out of their fortune, with one crew member missing and another fighting for her life, the heist at the ice court was...not particularly successful. Back in Ketterdam, with new crew member Kuwei in tow and Jesper's past about to make an appearance, master thief Kaz Brekker is watching his last dregs (sorry) of hope draining away. Things are going to be tough. Not only does Kaz still want to exact revenge on Pekka Rollins, he now has Jeff Bezos style villain Jan Van Eck to contend with. Van Eck will stop at nothing to drive Kaz into ruin, but the demjin's sleeves seem to be packed with nothing but tricks, and his crew is more determined than ever.

Relations between crew members get increasingly complicated, new characters show up out of the past and out of the blue, and the stakes are raised to the stratosphere in this exhilarating story. Crooked Kingdom is certainly a worthy sequel to Six Of Crows, a totally original story written with the same breakneck speed, shocking twists and incredible characters.
