I've reviewed the first Maus book on here before (check that one out!) And I'm back to review the sequel. For anybody who hasn't read my review of the first Maus book, it's the true story of a Holocaust survivor told through a comic book format.
The sequel takes a slightly different direction. While it still focuses on the author's father's experiences during the Holocaust, it also turns to look at the author's personal relationship with his father and how his father's history may have shaped that relationship. It's just as raw and at times difficult to read, but this time it examines the after effects, how the Holocaust shaped the author's father, and in turn, the author himself.
This is a superb sequel to an already excellent book. It is subtly brilliant both in the language and the visuals, and I would suggest anybody who enjoyed Maus read this as soon as they can.
