This book was my introduction to Steven Camden, whose other book "It's About Love" is one of my favorite love stories (check out my review of that one!)

The novel is split between two perspectives and two time periods. There's Ameliah, a young girl in 2013 who recently lost both of her parents, and Ryan, a teenage boy in 1993 who deals with a stepmom and a horrid stepbrother. Ryan records the story of his life on cassette tapes, which, 20 years later, Ameliah finds. As she listens to these mysterious recordings, she begins to suspect that her story and that of Ryan's are much closer than she thinks.

This book is an unconventional but very sweet coming of age story with a heartbreaking twist ending, and I would recommend it to any YA fan.
