Hi all! Sorry I haven't posted in forever, I've been working my way through a new novel but It'll be finished and reviewed within the next five days, I promise!

This is the first graphic novel I've reviewed on this blog, and unfortunately I don't really see anymore coming anytime soon. I'm not the biggest fan of graphic novels, but this proves to be the exception.

Maus is the true story of the author's father's experience and survival of the Holocaust. It is a devastating story on its own, but what really makes the book fascinating is the way it is formatted. As I said, it is a graphic novel, and it portrays all Jews as mice, and all Nazis as Cats, with a variety of other animals filing in for civilians. It's visceral and hard hitting while being told through a seemingly lighthearted symbol.
