BOY HOWDY I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! It was funny and deep and sad and fast paced and weird and pretty much everything you can ask for in a story.

Lucky Linderman's life is... not great. Not only is he bullied relentlessly, but his grandfather went missing in Vietnam, and his dad never got over it. His dad works constantly to avoid his feelings (and, in the process, avoids his family) and his mom swims constantly to avoid missing Lucky's dad. To top it all off, Lucky has dreams in which he's helping his grandfather escape Vietnam, but Lucky has a sneaking suspicion the dreams are more than just in his head.

This book is amazing. It's a beautifully complex coming of age story with some absolutely hilarious moments. A more mature read for sure, but amazing nonetheless.
