I'll just say this upfront. I hate dystopias. I mean, there's nothing wrong with the genre, but it is so. Worn. Out. There are some exceptions to the rule, The Giver (which some say was the first dystopia) After, a book of different dystopian scenarios that I found very interesting, and Blood Red Road.

It follows a girl named Saba , who lives with her twin brother Lugh and their sister and father. They live in basically a desert wasteland. Lugh gets kidnapped and Saba becomes determined to find him.

I have two things to say about this book. 1) This book is really, really interestingly written. Saba speaks very poor English, and it is written like that. There are no quotation marks as well. It can be hard to understand at times, but it does add to the book overall. 2) There is so much happening! There are so many little side plots and twists and turns! So much gets wrapped up in Saba's quest to find her brother and it's so fascinating to read!

This isn't your typical dystopia. I really liked it, and I'm sure others will as well!
